We are deeply disappointed at the news that Attorney General Rob Bonta has declined to take up the case against former SFPD officer Christopher Samayoa who shot and killed Keita O’Neil in 2017. If we cannot count on our District Attorney nor our Attorney General to bring justice to people who have been wronged by the police, what is the purpose of their roles? Now more than ever, we must show that San Franciscans will not allow the lives of our community members to be taken without accountability. Whoever is in the District Attorney’s office will be hearing the demands of our communities until we can all feel safe from harm and violence in San Francisco, regardless of what we look like or where we come from.
